The focus of the program is on students who are willing and able to study at university and who have had a refugee experience, have a university entrance qualification, and have entered Germany no more than five years ago.

Qualifications

Eligible to apply for the scholarships are RWTH students who: have refugee status in Germany; have acquired their university entrance qualification abroad (so-called Bildungsinländer, i.e. non-German citizens who have a German school leaving certificate or university degree, are not eligible); are enrolled at the RWTH or have been admitted as students at RWTH for the 2024 summer semester.; are located in Germany.; have already submitted a BAFöG (state funding for students) application to Studierendenwerk and are still waiting for the decision or have received a rejection letter from Studierendenwerk.; are in a financial emergency situation and can prove that they cannot finance their studies in any other way.; are willing to participate in the counseling services offered by RWTH's Arbitration Board for academic refugees in order to ensure successful studies.; are willing to provide the necessary personal data to the University as part of the funding program and to participate in surveys and studies for the evaluation of the "NRWege ins Studium" program.

Academic Transfer

Accepts transfer credit.
