We are offering up to 30 scholarships for a full-time postgraduate programme at the University of Edinburgh. The Displaced Student Scholarship is open to anyone displaced by conflict, persecution, or other serious human rights violations or deprivations.

Qualifications

Complete the scholarship application form to determine whether you meet all of the eligibility criteria for the scholarship.
Procedure
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, you must meet the following four criteria:
Immigration status
You must have one of the following statuses to apply.
Asylum Seeker a person who has made a claim within the UK for refugee status (this includes submission of a fresh claim and in the appeals process)
Refugee Status a person granted protection, and meets the criteria of a refugee set out in Article 1 of the 1951 Refugee Convention
Humanitarian Protection a person granted protection who does not fit the criteria of a refugee within Article 1 of the 1951 Refugee Convention
Limited leave to remain on grounds of seeking protection a person seeking protection, for example, trafficked persons and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children who have reached majority age
Indefinite leave to remain issued within the last 12 months Indefinite leave to remain must have been granted under one of the above categories
Leave under a Resettlement scheme
a person with Leave under:
UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS)
Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme
Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP)
Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS)
Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine)
Ukraine Family Scheme
Dependant of any of the above status groups a person with ‘in line’ or ‘dependent’ status
2. Level of education
You must meet the academic entry requirements for your chosen degree programme. We will not accept applications from people educated to PhD level. In addition, if you already have a postgraduate taught degree from a UK higher education institution, you are not eligible for 25/26 entry.
3. Diversity & Equity
Diversity and equity are central to the success of this programme; therefore, we will work to ensure a balanced programme with a diverse mix of genders and nationalities.
4. You must be a UK resident
Applicants must reside in the UK at the time of their application and be prepared to relocate to Edinburgh (or a commutable distance from Edinburgh) if their application is successful.
We define a commutable distance as:
being within a 60-mile radius of the University of Edinburgh
you can travel to the University by car, bus or train to attend your classes.
