Qualifications
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO VALIDATE THE STATUS OF REFUGEES, LOW-INCOME
ASYLUM SEEKERS AND HUMANITARIAN VISA HOLDERS
I – People whose refugee status has been recognized by the National Committee for Refugees
(CONARE) or a competent federal agency:
Proof of refugee status recognized by CONARE or a competent federal agency.
II – People who have claimed asylum with CONARE or a competent federal agency, whose per capita
family income (gross) is equal to or less than one and a half minimum wage:
Confirmation of application for asylum and Self-declaration of income validated by a committee
appointed by the Prorectorate for Affirmative Action and Equity (Proafe) (procedure to be done during
the registration period);
III – People holding a humanitarian visa:
Permanent or temporary humanitarian visa issued by the Federal Police.
IV – People entering the country due to family reunion in accordance with the conditions in items I and
III:
Family reunion visa or confirmation of request for extending the effects of refugee status to family
members, in accordance with the procedures that regulate Law no. 9474/07.
Procedure
To apply, the applicant must do the following:
a) access the website www.refugiados2024.ufsc.br between 18 April and 14 May 2024,
complete the Application Form and submit it (by clicking the “Enviar” [send] button) by
11:59 pm on 14 May 2024.
b) print or save the confirmation of Application Form submission.
2.3.1. The information provided in the Application Form is the sole responsibility of the
applicant.
2.4. The applicant who does not proceed strictly according to item 2.3 will not have their application
considered.
2.5. COPERVE/UFSC will not be responsible for applications not completed due to communication
failure, network congestion or other technical factors that make it impossible to transfer data or print
documents referred to in item 2.3 of this Call for Applications.
2.6. Application will only be considered completed after submission of the Application Form. The
Application Form is the proof of application.
2.7. Each applicant may apply only once. If more than one application is submitted, only the latest
application will be considered.
2.8. Applicants must inform their Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (CPF) in the
Application Form. Additionally, in order to prove the condition of refugee, low-income asylum seeker
or humanitarian visa holder, they must inform the number of a photo identification document: Passport
or National Foreigner Registration (RNE) or National Migrant Registration (RNM) or Provisional
National Migrant Registration Document (DPRNM) or National Driver’s License (CNH) or,
exceptionally, another photo identification document.
2.8.1. As provided for in Decree No. 8727/2016 and Normative Resolution No. 59/CUn/2015, trans
people (transvestites, transsexuals and transgenders) will be able to inform, at the time of
application, their social name, with which they will be identified in the lists of approved applicants
and subsequent calls.
2.9. During the application period, the applicant may change their personal information, except the
CPF, in the system available on the Admission Selection Process’ website, under the menu option
“Application”.
2.9.1 The information provided in the application, the verification of the information and the
changes made, if any, are the sole responsibility of the applicant.
2.9.2 After the application period, the information provided will be considered final.
2.10. When applying, applicants must choose one of the undergraduate programs listed in the General
Table of Programs provided in Annex I to this Call.
2.11. Refugees, low-income asylum seekers and humanitarian visa holders, coming from any
educational background and who have completed or will complete secondary school or equivalent
education until the date of enrollment at UFSC, may apply for this Admission Selection Process.
2.12. Applicants who need special conditions to take the test must request these conditions upon
application and must prove their needs in accordance with the Ordinance No. 02/2024/Coperve.
2.12.1. For the purposes of this Call for Applications, the use of hearing aid is also considered a
special condition.
2.12.2. The medical report and/or other supporting documents may be sent in Portuguese, English,
French, or Spanish.
2.13. The applicant whose application is completed according to item 2.3 of this Cal will have access
to their Confirmation of Preliminary Application, from 15 May 2024, on the Admission Selection
Process’ website, by clicking on the link “Confirmação de Inscrição Preliminar” [Confirmation of
Preliminary Application], in order to verify their information.
2.14. The Confirmation of Final Application, indicating the location where the applicant will take
the admission test, will be available on the Admission Selection Process’ website by 5 June 2023. We
advise applicants to bring a printed copy of the Confirmation on the test day.
2.15. The submission of the application implies knowledge and tacit acceptance of the conditions
established in the entire content of this Call for Applications (including all the information in the
Annexes), of which the applicant cannot claim ignorance.
