Open University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and Separate study rights
Supports students at risk
Arcada offers those who have fled the war in Ukraine the opportunity to higher education studies free of charge. Persons who have fled the war in Ukraine and who have sufficient English language skills can take study units in the Open UAS free of charge. There are a limited number of spaces, which are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The persons must also meet any potential prerequisites the different programmes might have. The opportunity to study free of charge at Open UAS is offered to all asylum seekers and persons with temporary protection in Finland. Students who have a study right at a higher education institution in Ukraine and whose studies have been interrupted by the war can apply for a separate study right at Arcada. Study rights are granted in order of enrolment in the Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering and International Business programmes to those who meet the following requirements: the student has a study right at a Ukrainian higher education institution; the student has sufficient language skills for studying in English. If there are persons who can and want to study in Swedish, Arcada can also offer separate study rights to the Swedish-language programmes to students who have a study right in Ukraine The separate study right does not automatically give access to student benefits and does not lead to a degree. Please note that the separate study right is not sufficient grounds for obtaining a residence permit.
