Refugee Higher Education Program

Supports students at risk

The aim of the program is to provide access to higher education for refugees in Japan who would otherwise have difficulty completing an undergraduate or graduate degree program. The students’ tuition fees and other study expenses will be funded by the universities. At the discretion of the universities, additional scholarship stipends may be paid to the students on a monthly basis. Review the website for a full list of universities, number of opportunities, language of instruction, and eligibility. Tsuda University and University of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo only accept female candidates.

Qualifications

Refugees and asylum seekers living in the country of the scholarship. Documents certifying residency status in Japan, Resident registration form, and certificate of refugee status or certificate of resettlement record or proof of refugee status (please refer to the application guidelines). Only accept female candidates.

Academic Transfer

Accepts transfer credit.
