The UQ Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship is funded by The University of Queensland (UQ). Established in 2021, this Scholarship offers students from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds the opportunity to pursue higher education in any desired discipline at UQ.

We'll email you to let you know when we've received your application. If you don't receive a confirmation email within 2 working days of submitting your application, contact us at scholarships@uq.edu.au
If you’re considered eligible, we’ll forward your application to a selection panel to review. If you’re successful, we'll notify you in writing.
Qualifications
at the time of application for the Scholarship, have applied for a Program with the University;
are an international student in accordance with the University’s Fee Policy;
hold an Eligible Visa as per T&C's of the Scholarship;
have not received the Scholarship previously for the same level of study;
have not received another scholarship or tuition fee reduction from the University;
have not received a full scholarship from another organisation;
can demonstrate and provide documentary evidence of financial hardship.We'll consider:
evidence of financial hardship;
strength of personal statement outlining personal circumstances; recent experience in extra-curricular, community service, leadership activities; career goals and how the chosen program will assist applicant to achieve these goals;
academic achievements.
Procedure
You'll need:
a copy of your current visa. If you are currently on a Bridging Visa A or E and have applied for a Protection visa, please provide a copy of the acknowledgement letter from Immigration
a personal statement addressed 'To whom it may concern' dated and signed
a Centrelink assistance statement (if applicable)
your 3 most recent payslips (if currently employed). If unemployed please upload a statement explaining your unemployment
your resume/CV
You can also include:
award/degree certificates, but we will check the admissions records for documents provided while applying for a program of studies at UQ
references from employers, community organisations, academics or any other relevant group that wish to support your scholarship application
