Students with refugee experience can apply for the scholarship program "NRWege ins Studium". The Language Learning Centre awards scholarships from funds from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Qualifications
You are enrolled in a full-time study program at TH Köln. Based on your previous educational background, it is expected that you will successfully complete your studies. You have proof of refugee experience as defined by the "NRWege ins Studium" program. You do not have German citizenship. You obtained your university entrance qualification abroad. You cannot finance your studies in any other way, or your monthly income is less than €1,292. You provide proof that you have applied for BAföG (student financial aid). (Note: A full scholarship can only be awarded if you provide evidence that your BAföG application was rejected by the application deadline. A partial scholarship can also be awarded as a supplement to BAföG.) You submit a letter of motivation in which you describe your interest in the study and explain why you need financial support through a scholarship in the NRWege program. You are willing to provide evidence of study results from the past period. You are willing to provide TH Köln with the data required for funding and to participate in surveys/studies. You are willing to participate in language courses or workshops at TH Köln. You are willing to regularly receive counseling services and participate in the program.
Procedure
Cover letter (max. two pages, approx. 600 words) CV Letter of admission for a degree program and/or certificate of enrollment from TH Köln (must be submitted by March 15th for the summer semester and September 15th for the winter semester) Proof of academic achievements: current transcript of records with indication of grade point average Proof of refugee background - copy of your passport/ID card and residence permit with your personal details Proof of German language skills: language certificates from preparatory and/or accompanying language courses BAföG: Notice of receipt or rejection (without confirmation from the BAföG office, we cannot pay you a scholarship) List of your financial needs and bank statements for the last three months Proof of receipt of government benefits and/or public funds or scholarships. Additionally, when applying for a follow-up scholarship or for a first application from the 4th semester onwards: Letter of recommendation/report from a teacher (must be sent directly by the teacher to the language learning center) Certificate "Overview of the Course of Study" (issued by the Student and Examination Services/Study Office; contains information on the ECTS credits already achieved and the general course of study, as well as the expected completion date of the course of study) if available: copy of the registration of the thesis with the Examination Office optional: proof of extracurricular skills and social commitment Optional: Proof of a consultation with the Central Student Advisory Service regarding the choice of study program Please send all application documents by email (maximum 2 PDF files) to stipendien-nrwege@th-koeln.de Only complete application documents will be included in the selection process and evaluated by the selection committee.
