Qualifications
Below is a list of the full eligibility criteria for the Refugee Bursary, you must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for an award. ◼ You are a current, full time or part-time registered student at the University of Essex ◼ You have been assessed as a Home fee-paying student and are ordinarily resident in the UK (overseas fee-paying students are not eligible) ◼ You are undertaking Undergraduate or Postgraduate study ◼ You are able to provide evidence that you have UK refugee status or are a dependent of a UK refugee, including students who have been granted leave, or are the dependent of someone granted leave, under one of the following schemes: – Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme – Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy Scheme – Ukrainian Family Scheme – Homes for Ukraine Scheme – Ukraine Extension Scheme In the UK, a refugee is a person who has fled their country, and is seeking protection because of a fear of being persecuted due to their race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion. Therefore you have been given permission to stay in the UK, and granted official ‘refugee’ status. (UCAS)
Procedure
To apply for the Refugee Bursary, you will need to do the following: 1. Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria above 2. Carefully read these Terms and Conditions 3. Register for the Blackbullion online money management website if you do not already have an account 4. Click the ‘Funds’ tab and select ‘Refugee Bursary’ 5. Follow the instructions to complete the declaration form, upload the required evidence and submit your application
