UWTSD Sanctuary Bursary

In order to be considered for this bursary, applicants must have one of the following immigration statuses: • Limited Leave to Remain (LL) • Humanitarian Protection (HP) • Refugee Status • Asylum Seeker – a person who has made a claim within the UK for refugee status and is awaiting an outcome and whose visa status permits study on campus. • the dependents of any of the above status groups, in recognition that they are also from asylum‐seeking or refugee backgrounds, including: • family members of an asylum seeker whose claim is dependent on a principal applicant; or • family members of an individual with refugee or humanitarian protection status who have come to the UK on a family reunion visa. In addition to the above, applicants must meet all the following criteria: • Have received an unconditional offer of full‐time undergraduate study from UWTSD. • Be new full‐time entrants to UWTSD and starting the foundation year or level 4 of their undergraduate programme or level 7 of a postgraduate programme as a new student (for clarity students already studying at the University are not eligible unless they already hold a University Sanctuary Bursary and wish to apply for support to progress to the next academic level.) • Be able to provide a reference in support of your application from a school, college, community, or voluntary group. • As a direct result of your status are not eligible for Tuition Fee Loans or Maintenance Loans from Student Finance England/Wales/NI/SAAS • If you are applying for a programme that requires you to pass a DBS check in order to participate in the programme, it is your responsibility to ensure you have the necessary documentation. Failure to pass the DBS checks, will result in a suspension/withdrawal from the programme.
