Admission for refugees to master's degree programmes

Supports students at risk

UiO have a wide selection of master's degree programmes in different fields. This admission process is aimed at newly arrived refugees who have already completed a bachelor's degree. You can apply for up to two programmes or study options. It is not possible to add or change programmes after the application deadline. If you are offered admission to your first priority, you will not be offered admission to your second priority. Please note that all information is correct at the time of publication, but may be subject to change in line with updated guidelines from the authorities.

Admission
The available master's degree programmes have a limited number of study places for refugees. We cannot guarantee that all qualified applicants will receive a study offer. If there are more qualified applicants than the available number of study places, we will draw lots among the qualified applicants to decide who will receive a study offer.
Qualifications
Documentation that you are registered as a refugee in Norway. This can be documented with one of the following: residence card (oppholdskort) that states that you have a residence permit as an refugee a copy of the decision letter or a confirmation from the UDI confirming your status as a refugee in Norway. If you intend to document your refugee status with a decision letter/confirmation from the UDI, you must send the document by regular post as this documentation contains sensitive information. Please send it to: The University of Oslo Admissions Office P.O. Box 1081, Blindern 0317 Oslo Norway A degree comparable to a Norwegian bachelor's degree AND Documentation of English language proficiency for courses on master's level. Applicants who lack an English language test will be given the opportunity to take a test, funded by the University of Oslo, to document their language proficiency. We will contact you if this applies to you. This programme does not require Norwegian language proficiency. Required specialization and minimum grade requirement Admission to master's degree programmes requires that you have the required specialization and meet the minimum grade requirement for the programme specified on each programme page. Please find information about the requirements on the programme page for the programme in which you are interested.
Procedure
Apply in the application portal Søknadsweb. Please note that admission is only open for thse who can document that the have obtained a residence permit as a refugee You need a National ID number and a MinID user in order to apply. See how to register a MinID user. Log on to the application portal with login method "ID-porten". Choose the study option(s) you are applying for. Upload your documents. Academic Transfer
