UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION INFORMATION - MIGRANTS/REFUGEES
Supports students at risk
On June 9, 2008, through Ordinance GR No. 941/08, the Federal University of São Carlos regulated the admission of refugees in Brazil to undergraduate courses. Law No. 9474/97, dated July 20, 1997, establishes mechanisms for the implementation of the 1951 Refugee Statute, stipulating in Article 44 that "admission to academic institutions at all levels should be facilitated, considering the unfavorable conditions experienced by refugees." Thus, starting in 2009, UFSCar began conducting a specific selection process, offering at least one additional spot in each course for the selection of refugees, provided they have the appropriate certification issued by Conare – the National Committee for Refugees, linked to the Ministry of Justice. Institutional documents regarding the Refugee Selection Process are available at the following links.
