NRWege ins Studium für Geflüchtete (NRW Paths to Study for Refugees)

Supports students at risk

As part of the “ NRwege ins Studium für Geflüchtete ” program, up to 5 scholarships will be awarded to students with a refugee background who are highly motivated and likely to succeed in their studies. The scholarships are financed with funds from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKW) and coordinated by the International Office. Qualifications
Enrolment in regular university studies; Proven refugee background and corresponding residence status; Positive report/letter of recommendation; Financial need: Priority is given to low-income students without further support; Willingness to volunteer in the program; The following are considered to have a proven refugee background: - people who are entitled to asylum, people who have been recognised as refugees or persons entitled to subsidiary protection, as well as people for whom a national ban on deportation has been established, as well as comparable people who have a residence permit (§§ 25 para. 1-3, 22, 23 para. 1 and 2, 23 para. 4, 23a or 25 para. 4, 25 para. 5 of the Act on the Residence, Employment and Integration of Foreigners in the Federal Territory (Residence Act - Residence Act). - people who were admitted on the basis of the Mass Influx Directive and have a right of residence in accordance with § 24 Residence Act. - people who have been rejected as part of an asylum procedure carried out by the BAMF, but whose deportation has been temporarily suspended (tolerated deportation in accordance with § 60 a para. 2 Residence Act). - people who are in Germany via family reunification, if the residence status of the “Regularly entitled persons” (§§29, 30, 31, 32, 34 para. 1, 34 para. 2, 36) - persons with a settlement permit who have not been in Germany for more than 5 years. (§36 AufenthG)
